Series inspired by the beauty of a frozen lake and the ice structure's visual resemblance to the universe and cosmic explosions. Thales of Miletus (625-547 BC), a pre-Socratic philosopher, is regarded as the father of Greek philosophy and the world's first scientist. His hypothesis was that water was the originating principle of nature, out of which everything arises, and into which everything resolves itself. The cosmos is the universe regarded as a complex and orderly system; the opposite of chaos. The 19th century geographer Alexander von Humboldt, resurrected the use of the word from the ancient Greek, and influenced our present and holistic perception of the universe as one interacting entity.
